Hope everybody is recovering from the holidays. My stomach feels like it's ready to burst. Back to work tomorrow for a couple of days which probably isn't a bad idea. At least there won't be tons of food around. There's only a couple of us that will be there.
Getting ready for the new year and praying that 2008 brings prosperity and happiness to us all.....CHRIS

Merry Christmas to all of JLand! Even through the trials and tribulations, I pray that you experienced the glow of this special day. (LOL...my pants are wet from washing dishes.) Thanks to Shelly for the beginning and ending tags snagged last year. Love ya!

Counting down to Christmas Day. Megan, Joey and I went and ate at my BF's with his mother and brother. He made a ham, turkey, stuffing, cheesy potatoes, candied carrots and a bunch of other stuff.
His mother just got out of the hospital. She had pneumonia and then developed steroid psychosis from high doses of steroids. I'm happy to say that she is home and her mind is clear again.
I took some pictures. I'm certainly looking quite "healthy" if you get my drift, like a linebacker. Oy! Joey has gained weight but he actually needed to. Reminding myself to position my head right to hide the triple chins. Megan has gotten really thin. She's still my beautiful baby. I got a new memory card for my camera. Actually, two for the price of one. I had no idea what I needed or what to get. I sort of recalled what I bought two years ago. Anyway, they are the proper cards but each card holds 1,200 pictures. $20 at Walmart...lol.
Anyway, I'm off to do nothing. The kids are back in Pittsburgh. Megan is driving Becky's old car, the "Tempo" of doom. The Cutlass is shot. Anyway, poor kid lost the muffler on the way back to celebrate Christmas Eve. She and Joey are together. She is spastic about driving the car without the muffler. Always something.
I made a siggy tag below. If you want one, let me know. I'll be off until Thurs. so I'll have time to do them. I'm not sure what is up with AOL. I'm having more people tell me that even the attachments aren't saving the animation properly. Even snagging from the journal isn't either. I'm wondering if it's because I'm using 9.1 now. That shouldn't make a difference. O well.... Blessings!

Krissy and Maria.....I'm posting your tags for you. If anyone else had trouble with the attachment and the animation, let me know. I cannot understand how AOL can screw up plain old glitter. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and open a Fotki account.
My regular entry is below this one...................
My regular entry is below this one...................
Well, hmph, I went to embed a video and my whole darned entry disappeared except for the tag. Ugh, and I was going to be heartwarming and loving.
I've been reading some wonderful Christmas entries. This past year has been extremely rough for many in Jland. There's been illness, deaths, etc. I pray that 2008 is a new beginning. I always approach a new year with hope.
I still cannot believe that my Penny is gone. There isn't a day goes by that I don't miss her. I was reading through my archives. She had such wit. She cracked me up with her comments. I can't even imagine how much her family is missing her. Hey, Penny girl, wish Jesus a blessed Christmas for me.
I also cannot believe that Lisa Jo lost her beloved Buddy. Simply cannot believe it. I also cannot fathom how evil people can be. Karma will be very brutal for these folks.
I'm so proud of Shelly, Roxymama. She has taken in a family who is down on their luck even though this hasn't been a good year financially for her and her hubby. Shelly, you are truly demonstating the meaning of Christmas to your children. What they will learn from your self-less giving is priceless.
I'll probably be around some today and tomorrow. My BF is having his mother and brother over tomorrow instead of on Christmas Day so that I can go. I just love him so much. Megan is going with me and then to church and her "Baba's" Slovak feast. It won't be until after church at 9. Then, I get to spend Christmas at my mom's with all three of my children.
I'm on my way grocery shopping...ugh. Megan is finishing her Christmas shopping. I'm meeting her at the Chinese place soon. Grrr...lol...it's in between buffet times so I have to order off of the menu.
Ok, I'll try to embed this video but I'm copying and pasting this entry before I do it because I'm not writing this all over again. The song is Light of the Stable and another one of my favorites. There wasn't much to choose from on Youtube. The audio isn't great. My Youtube is from the UK...hehe. I could only get German for some reason. Joey and I finally got the UK so I could read it. I have my US AOL on here. Looks like I'm meant to be a UK girl.

What a week. I really hate to whine when so many have so much more to worry about. The money used to fix the furnace has blown the budget right out of the water. There is nothing left for Christmas. It had taken all I could do to work my budget around Christmas. I had managed to save an extra $200 for some presents. Yep, it's heating the house instead of putting something under the tree.
To top it off, I had a flat tire after work on Tues. (sound familiar LJ?) Luckily, they were able to plug it. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it holds.
I had lunch today with Megan. She is working full time again. Sad but true but bleak Christmas' are nothing new in this house. My kids do get things, though, from both sides of grandma's plus their dad so they will not lack for things. I just feel so darned bad when I'm lacking.
The bright light of the day was Megan. She is mostly on her own, working and paying her rent, utilities, buying food. She asked me today how in the world I fed and clothed them for so many year plus kept a roof over their head when I was making far less than she is now? She said I amaze her. Wish I was amazing myself right now. Reality and paying your way turns the light on, doesn't it? We talked about our day after Easter extravaganza's. They would be eagerly waiting for me to get home that Monday so they could fill their baskets with 1/2 stuff. They loved it. Things did improve but this year financially has been a really rough one; more so than it has in a few years.
So, today is my pity party day. Of course, I miss my dad which seems to make everything bleak. Ah, my daddy, who could always fix what was broken. This happens every year right before Christmas and usually just for a day.
So, I'm leaving this entry; an entry I did my first year of journaling. Many of you have read this; many may not have. It's my favorite. Forgive me if I bore you. This is a rather long entry:
A CHRISTMAS STORY
He was a rough and tumble two year old boy. It seemed liked everything he touched, he broke. He loved his trucks and cars but was just so rough. He broke his sister's toys; not on purpose. That's just the way he was.
Christmas was fast approaching. The barrage of toy commercials was on every TV channel. Then he saw it. He ran to get his mommy. He wanted her to see it. She was very busy but he finally managed to drag her to the t.v. She looked at the commercial. He could tell by her expression that she was not going to get it for him. He knew she thought he would not take care of it and break it like everything else.
He had to tell Santa; he just had to. But he was terrified of Santa. His mom made his sister and him get their pictures taken every year on Santa's lap at he mall. Oh, how he hated that but he had to do it this year. His mom had an odd, questioning expressionon her face when he asked when they were going to the mall to see Santa. She told him very soon.
He found a picture in the advertisement section of the paper and tore it out as gently as he could. He put it under his pillow for safekeeping. Santa had to see what he really, really wanted so he would get the little boy right thing.
The day came to see Santa. Oh, how scared he was but he had to be brave to show Santa the picture. He clutched the crumpled paper in his little hand. His heart was pounding by the time it was their turn to talk to Santa. His mother noticed a small piece of paper sticking out of his hand when the picture was developed that day. What could it be? Then she saw it after it had fallen out of his hand when he fell asleep in the car on the way home. It was that toy again. But it was very expensive and his dad wanted no part of it because he just knew that the little boy would only break it. His dad said it was a waste of money.
But when asked what he wanted for Christmas, that was the one and only thing the little boy ever mentioned. He prayed to Jesus for this toy. Even as a little boy, he talked to Jesus all the time and surely Jesus would make sure he got it.
Christmas morning came. He ran down the steps with his sister and looked at all the wrapped gifts. He looked ever so hard to find a box the size of what he wanted. His mom gave him some things but that wasn't it. He could feel a tear forming. Disappointment was no stranger to this little boy. And then..there it was...the box. He tore it open. He couldn't believe his eyes. There was his new best friend in the whole world...Teddy Ruxpin.
He ever so gently took the box and put it on the sofa. His dad never drank on Christmas so he wasn't afraid to ask him to open the box and put the batteries in. "My friend, my friend"...The ever gentle, kind, loving songs of Teddy Ruxpin.
Teddy stayed in his bed always. He was gentle and loving to Teddy. Teddy was special. When friends came to visit, he gave Teddy to his mom to put away for safekeeping. Teddy sang him to sleep every night. Teddy went to his Grandpa's with him. His Grandpa also loved Teddy and they spent many happy hours listening to Teddy and looking at the books. Grandpa loved the little boy beyond words and loved the fact that there was a bear who sang such sweet songs to this special little boy with so much strife in his life.
Teddy's eye was fixed and his mouth was fixed until Teddy could be fixed no more. By then the little boy was not so little but Teddy would always be one of the brightest spots of this little boy's broken childhood. The little boy's name is Joey. His mom is me, Chris

I just love the house in this graphic. If you would like your family's name, your name or some special message, leave me a comment.
It has snowed 3 inches here today and now it's a mix of rain and ice...yuck.
My thermostat went kaput on my furnace. Should have been no big deal because my BF could put a new one on but, of course, it was a big deal. When he took the old one off, there were too many wires and none were the right color. I had to call for a weekend heating repair. The previous owner did all his own work and used whatever he had around the house. The heating guy had to change the wiring clear into the furnace. $174 later; not counting the $30 I had spent on the thermostat earlier, my heat is up and running. Merry Christmas to me...lol. Good news is this young guy is starting his own heating company in March. I need some things done on the furnace that can wait until then and will cost me far less than what the place he works for charges.
I managed to get some cleaning done and some snowmen up in my livingroom. I'm not too hopeful that the outside lights will get up this year.
I'll leave you with a slideshow of my tree that I did in Photobucket. I still would like a fuller, bigger tree but actually it sits near the path to the kitchen, and it's much easier to navigate around it than previous years when our trees were huge. Plus Grizzly isn't knocking everything off of it with his tail when he runs into the kitchen (which is every time the refrigerator opens or a bag of something rustles.)
HUGS N LOVE to all........(Thanks to dear Sugar for my Christmas gift graphic below....muah!!!)

This is how it works..
you leave the link to your journal here and then do an entry on your favorite holiday song.
Visit at least 5 journals who you believe will play along. When you visit, leave your journal link in the comment section inviting them to play along and come see the song you chose.
The tag is snaggable. I know some of you are having problems snagging from this journal. If there is any graphic you would like, leave me a comment. I'll attach it in an e-mail to you.
Anyway, my favorite Christmas song is Mary Did You Know? by Kenny Rogers and Wynnona Judd. LOL...I'm showing my age but dang that Kenny Rogers has aged very well and looking pretty darned sexy...hehe.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all my dear JLand friends...love you all!

Hello all! I decided to put some graphics up as snag only. I still have some tagging to do. Sheesh...can't keep up, and I really don't like to offer to tag anything until I get the others done and sent. LOL...my tree still is not up although I did get some decorations put up yesterday. I need Joey to put the tree together. I'm just a hot mess when it comes to figuring out putting things together.
Megan was home this weekend to get a hair cut. I bought her an early Christmas present...an off white DKNY coat for work. She looks adorable in it. It was super duper on sale. Christmas will be meager this year but at least my children do well with both sets of grandma's and usually their dad...surprise, surprise.
I managed to lose 5 lbs this week. 10 more to go, and I may be able to dance on some tables without breaking them. We just had hamburgers on the grill. I was cooking in the rain. After all the snow last week, we had a nice Sunny day yesterday and torrential rain and fog today. The burgers were yummy, though. Actually, Joey puts a bunch of "secret" stuff in them. All I do is grill them.
Well, I'm off to watch the Steelers vs. Patriots. JMO: I would love to see the Steelers or anybody for that matter beat the Pats but I'm not too hopeful.
Here are a couple of pixel snags. I just love these things. And a teddy snag. HUGS Chris

I got this from Tracy, Latte Dah and Brenda, Brass Butterflies. Cracked me up which doesn't take much lately. If you want to do it, copy and paste and leave me a link or just put your phrase in my comments. My phrase, of course, is this entry's title.
(Above TAG is Snaggable or Taggable)
Type out the sentence you end up with, in the subject line.
SOME ADULT CONTENT
This was a scrap challenge last week in my PSP group. I did the blonde but figured I'd also add a brunnette. Sorry, I didn't get the tagging done from the previous entry. I'll get them to you today. My Paint Shop was freezing constantly and I was PSP-less for most of the week....ugh. I cleaned out a bunch of stuff and things seem to be running better...knock on wood.
I took the day off today to get my winter tires mounted on the car. Yikes...the snow has been falling for three days now here. I had to leave the car. I've got at least a three hour wait.
I put a pork roast in the oven. A little bit of warm, comfort food. Dang, it smells so good already.
I'm hoping to get my tree up tonight. I've decided on the artificial from last year. I'll need to bribe my son for some help and keeping the fingers crossed that the pre-lit lights still work. I guess I should have gotten my outside lights done on Saturday when it was still nice and warm and snow-less. I spent the morning today de-cobwebbing the house. Sheesh, where do they all come from?
Not much going on in this boring life of mine, which is probably a good thing. Tomorrow, I weigh in at work. My clothes feel a bit looser.
Please keep Lisa Jo and family in your prayers as her dear beagle, Buddy, is not doing well. Also, Indigo and Doc (Raven's Lament) as Doc's mother passed away.
I have all my alerts set again. Now, I'm working my way around trying to get my visits done today. Please have patience with me. Sometimes I do read an entry, get distracted and can't remember if I left a comment.
Those of you in the cold, keep warmand be safe. Those of you in the south, take a deep breath and blow some hot air north. HUGS Chris
