Odd Weather, Update and a SNAG

Autumn is here or so they say but more of that in a few......

Yesterday, I had to get up at 3:30 am to be at my BF's at 4:30 am to be at the hospital by 5:00.  By the time we got to the hospital, he was so nervous, he was nauseated and almost vomiting.  They took him back and sedated him a bit to prep him.  His brother and I saw him about 6:45.  He was then taken off to the OR.

I had a pager but never left the surgical waiting room.  We both actually fell asleep for about an hour.  I woke up when the hosp. phone rang for an update.  He was tolerating the surgery extremely well.

The surgery wasn't over until around 11:00.  They did a quadruple bypass.  Three arteries were 90% occluded (clogged) and they also did a bypass on the stented artery.  They weren't going to do the stented one unless he was tolerating surgery well.  The doctor had told him two arteries were 40% and said nothing about redoing the stented one.  I don't think they wanted him to worry before the surgery.

I saw him for about 5 minutes afterwards.  I went back for about 10 minutes after dinner.  He was far more alert.  When I called this morning, he was doing great.  He was sitting up.  When he knew it was me, he starting joking around.  I could hear his voice.  I took his duffel bag in this evening.  He was not feeling great.  He had to do some stretching thing that hurt the crap out of the breast bone and he almost passed out.  He was back to feeling crappy but that's expected.

My SIL came home Tues nite already.  My BF should be coming home Sunday.  They kick them out the door more and more quickly here in the good old USA.

I came home yesterday and floated in the pool and fell asleep.  I swear the weather is more like summer now than it was in July.  The sun feels eerily hot.  Usually this late in the year, the air temp canbe 90 but the sun just doesn't feel so hot.  Weird but the trees are red already.  I took pictures with my cell phone on my walk at work last week of trees turning red.  I cannot remember ever seeing a red leaf in August.  I have a yard full of leaves to rake already.  They started falling at least a week ago.  The middle of Oct. is the best time usually for seeing pretty leaves in western Pa.  My trees are not totally bare until the first week of November.

These pictures were taken a week before we went to Lake Erie.  I was walking at lunch.  The temps were in the upper 80's and low 90's yet the leaves look like they should in the beginning of October.  Weird.

I'm getting my hair cut and colored tomorrow.  Can't afford it but need to or should I say want more than need.  My hair was out of control when we took our little road trip plus the sun has bleached it totally in the past month.  This is a picture I took on my cell phone on Aug. 5 of my hair.  LOL...I also had not had any sun exposure at that time because we had no sun to expose myself to.

I'm getting it cut just as short but I'm getting more drastic with the color and highlights.  I want the back to be almost black with red and blonde in the front.  If I wasn't so darn exhausted, I'd take a pic of it now.  It's really blonde in the front and the sides are long.   I want the sides long and the back spiky.

I'm off to bed.  I'm totally exhausted....totally.  Thanks for your prayers and thoughts!  HUGS Chris

As so many others, I was thinking of you and BF. I am so happy to hear - so far, so good! Happy to hear that your SIL made it home already. I will keep your BF and SIL in my prayers. Your BF is blessed to have such a strong support.
Take it easy and do pamper yourself a bit. You deserve it and I think you need the extra attention on you for a little while.
Love your tag... and the fall tree pictures are awesome. Hugs, Maria

It sure feels like autumn in the air here. Oh! I bet he was nervous!! I feel like they send them home too soon. The weather is strange this year. Took a long time to get hot here, a mild summer. Now the weather is getting cool. Neat... you took your own pix. lol My hair is dark in the back (short) and front lighter colors... of course it all comes from a bottle. lol Keeping all of you in my prayers. Hugs, Janie

Very glad to hear the BF is doing so well.  Tell him to do exactly as the doc's say -- my stepDad has been through that now twice!  Those deep breathing exercises will help.  I was thinking about the same thing about the sun...perfect!  I think your hair is cute, but I understand about "bad hair" days.

so thankful your boyfriend is doing as well as can be expected from his surgery yesterday;thank you Lord :)

your hair sounds like it is going to be pretty! I like the colors/contrasts you are doing with it! I bet it will come out looking smashing :)

I've read on a lot of journals that leaves are changing early this year; I wonder if that means a rough, cold, wetter winter

take care of yourself, Chris

I knew his surgery was coming up and said prayers that whole day, off and on...and thankful he had you there with him.   I would have never left the waiting area either had it been my husband.   YES, no sooner than they get them in, they are out...he will be fine...he has you!!!  You look great just the way you are!!!!  I feel the need for a change...may be a gradual change...a few highlights, here and there...LOL   You made me soooooooooo jealous saying you floated in your pool....a day after we CLOSED ours...LOL  Had to close it now...due to Hanna, well you know!  Wow, those are pretty trees...we have no color change here...none until Oct.   Hope you will have a relaxing evening...and prayers for your BF to have a fast recovery....many hugs and love,
Joyce

Am SO glald your SIL is home already and that your BF did so well. Sounds like he did  like a trooper!!l  Weather is weird here too. The other day it felt so cool, Rich asked for chili. My 5 yr old granddaughter went bananas. She LOVES my chili (even when I put jalapenos) and she came in and asked "Gramma are you making chili for dinner? I told her I was. And cornbread too. She went running to her sister "Shelby Shelby Gramma's making CHILI for dinner!" God, I guess I should make it more often.  It turn out pretty good if I do say myself.
Keep us updated, I'll be praying for you all.
Hugs, Barb

Gosh you have been busy. Surgery takes things out of you even when you're just the person WAITING. I think that is worse. Glad to hear that everything went well and they were able to do all that. We're having the same kinda weather here and funny how I was thinking the same thing the heat just burns your skin and my trees are all turning and falling off too way early. Does that mean our winter will be bad? We haven't had a bad winter here in forever.
Take care and Hugs, Chrissie

HI Chris, I'm so glad BF is feeling "OK" and the surgery went well.  WoW, 4 clogged vessels.  He'll do great though.  The sooner the patient is up and moving and gets PT, the better they do.  Of course, good drugs help :  )
hugzz and blessings,  Bethe

Glad to hear that your boyfriend is holding his own, they do pretty much the same here in the UK. They want you out as soon as possible, i guess as long as there is no worry about infections then it probably is better as people do seem to get better quicker when they are at home and the chance of catching MRSA in hospital is high these days.

The weather here in the UK has been abismal........... i dont think we have had a summer at all........ for the best part of August all we saw was cloudy, overcast grey days.

Keeping you in my prayers
hugs Jayne

Oh, I love how you are going to cut your hair!  Sounds so cute!  Mine is cut short with the sides longer too!  Who started that cut, anyway?  Oh, yeah, Posh of the Spice girls did.  Now women cut their hair in variations of that style.  I would love to see a pic of your new do!

Glad to hear the BF got through the surgery with flying colors!  I know you are both relieved that it's over!!

Hugs and much love
